Hosted by: Victory Hubbard, Project DAWN Coordinator

Event Details:

  • Date: February 4th, 2025

  • Time: 6pm

  • Location: 1021 Clover St.

  • Cost: Free

  • Instructor: Victory Hubbard, Project DAWN Coordinator, Samaritan Behavioral Health

  • Registration: This training is mandatory for all Dear Dinah volunteers. Please RSVP by emailing Kalie McDonald (kmcdonald@deardinah.org) to ensure your spot.

About the Training:
Dear Dinah volunteers are required to attend this Narcan Training to become certified as Opioid Overdose Responders. This essential training will equip you with the skills and knowledge to effectively administer nasal naloxone (Narcan) in the event of an opioid overdose, helping save lives in critical situations.

The training is part of Project DAWN, a statewide initiative coordinated by the Ohio Department of Health. Named in memory of Leslie Dawn Cooper, who tragically lost her life to an opioid overdose, Project DAWN aims to combat the opioid crisis by providing overdose education and naloxone distribution across Ohio.

Upon completion of the training, you will be officially registered as an Opioid Overdose Responder through the Ohio Department of Health, empowering you to take action and respond confidently in emergency situations.

Why This Training Is Important:
As a Dear Dinah volunteer, your role is pivotal in the lives of individuals who may be at risk for opioid overdose. Having the skills and the tools to respond in a life-saving manner is critical. With Narcan (naloxone) in your hands, you could make the difference between life and death for someone in crisis.

What You Will Learn:

  • Signs of opioid overdose

  • How to administer nasal naloxone (Narcan)

  • How to respond and what to do after administering naloxone

  • Important safety and follow-up steps

Upon successful completion of the training, you will be registered with the Ohio Department of Health as an official Opioid Overdose Responder.

Instructor Bio:
Victory Hubbard is the Project DAWN Coordinator for Samaritan Behavioral Health, an entity of Premier Health. With a passion for harm reduction and community health, Victory has dedicated her career to providing critical resources and education to help combat the opioid crisis in Ohio.

We look forward to seeing you there and empowering you to make a life-saving impact in your role as a Dear Dinah volunteer!
