A letter to “Dinah”
Dear Sister,
I want you to know, with every part of my heart, that you are deeply loved. I can only imagine the weight of the suffering you have carried, and the brokenness that may still feel like a shadow over your life. But I am here to remind you of something that is more powerful than the pain you have known: there is hope, and there is healing in Jesus.
I want to share a story with you—one from the Bible that mirrors so much of what you’ve experienced. It’s the story of Dinah, found in Genesis 34. Dinah, like you, faced a terrible injustice. She was taken against her will, abused, and her dignity was violently stripped away. The world tried to define her by her trauma, but God saw her, and He never abandoned her.
In the midst of her pain, Dinah’s story didn’t end in hopelessness. God was with her, and even when her world felt shattered, He worked in ways that brought healing and restoration. What was stolen from her in that moment did not define her future. In fact, her story mattered so much to the Lord that it had to be included in His Holy Word. And just like Dinah, what has happened to you does not define who you are.
You are not defined by what others have done to you. You are not defined by the abuse, the shame, or the hurt. You are defined by the love of Jesus. His love is unshakable and eternal. He sees you as His precious daughter, worthy of all love, grace, and dignity. He calls you His beloved, and in Him, you are whole, restored, and free.
What was stolen from you, He will restore. The identity that was robbed from you is secure in Him. You are not forgotten, and you are not abandoned. No one can take away what He has given you—the worth, the value, and the love that are yours in Christ Jesus. You are cherished. You are loved. In Jesus, you are vindicated.
The enemy may have tried to destroy you, to steal your joy and peace, but Jesus has already claimed victory over that darkness. You are His—free, redeemed, and made whole. Your story is not one of defeat; it is a story of redemption and hope. You are healed by the power of Jesus Christ, the restorer of all things.
I want you to remember this: You are loved beyond measure. You are cherished beyond words. And you are vindicated, not because of anything you’ve done, but because of what Jesus has done for you.
You are His, and He has a beautiful future for you, one of hope, healing, and joy.
